Sawyer’s life was always framed by his father’s reputation. The man was a mafia boss, one who was hated near universally for indiscriminately screwing everyone over, and flaunting his power. Despite his father’s reputation, Sawyer always wanted to be known as a kindhearted person.

In his younger years, Sawyer was a lot more insecure. He was so desperate for people’s approval, and to not be seen as a bad man, just life his father, that he became obsessed with doing the most “good” that he can.

As he grew older, he realized the futility in this. You can’t please everyone. So, rather than try to please everyone, he just tried to live a simple and honest life. The people he loved most would know in their hearts that he was a good man.
